Based on the advantage of having many steel manufacturers as end
customers,ZMItakes an active part in exploring upstream market and has made
great advances in iron ore business. In 2006 our sales of iron ore amounted
to 2,360,000 metric tons.
ZMI’s major import sources of iron ore are India, Australia and Brazil.
While keeping expanding our import channel and scale, we are seeking for
more ways such as overseas investment and jointly mining with domestic
steel plants to guarantee a steady supply of iron ore in the future.
The development of iron ore business has laid a good foundation for
ZMI to accomplish its goals of“ Global Purchasing & Global Sales”and
integral operation of the iron-steel supply chain. |

Aiming at the strategy of integrating upstream and downstream industries,
ZMI has entered into partnership with a local company and set up Guizhou Yaye
Ferroalloy Co.,Ltd. With four 6300KVA submerged arc furnaces and one 4000KVA
refining furnace,the joint venture has an annual production capacity of 100,000
metric tons of silicon manganese, medium and low carbon ferro manganese,high
carbon ferro manganese, ferro silicon,etc.
Owing to stable quality and reasonable prices, our products have been well
received by Marubeni, Toyota, Stemcor, Korea Minmetals and other international
buyers. In 2006, based upon the platform of Yaye, ZMI ’ s sales of manganese
ore and ferroalloy reached about 200,000 metric tons and 84,000 metric tons
respectively.
We are now striving to further enlarge our production capacity of
manganese-based alloy to meet the requirements of customers worldwide by means
of investment and strategic cooperation |
